Michael Lau's 3300

Lots been said about this project lately. Initially it was coz of Lau's involvement with Nike HK's insanely hot Flagship project. Sneaker collectors, speculators, bystanders are exposed to the creativity and uber-coolness of Lau's vinyl work.
The premise of the 3300 seems pretty cool, i liken it to the popular series 4400, where this unique group of people who disappeared at various points of history suddenly re-appear with special powers.
It brings forth the birth of unique characters, storylines and even tie-ins for both the vinyl world, and given Lau's penchant for anything hip an hot, the real world. Lau takes it to the max and brings out the most familiar alien in urban culture-land: the pointman created by Futura, circa Unkle times, with an accompanying JLavelle figure. The pair was immortalised much earlier by Medicom and Nigo's BapePlay to devastating effect [on wallets, not galactic destruction], and it's a lark to see them get the Lau touch. [NB: i haven't used 'its a lark' in prolly 15years]

And here in lies the current whisperings that may split the fans and afficionado's alike. Michael Lau's vinyl work, from the times of his 12" creation to gardenergala, crazysmiles, crazy children etc, has always sought to blur the lines between street culture and fantasy. He's one of the pioneers that help create this phenomenon of hype and urban culture. While Mr Lenny may say that he has not approved of his likeness or characters being used by Lau (prolly coz he won;t get a cut), i don't see His Airness and his lawyers complaining about Lau's 12" "Jordon" figure, or Ronald McDonald's battery of legal eagles pursuing about the Meter Chen figure [mind you, that one had the all-familiar "MC" logo, for which McD's frequently sues to shut down lookalike restaurants in India and China].
My advice to Mr Lenny [if i may, of course, i totally respect and admire him] is to just chill, treat it as a caricature and take pleasure in knowing that he has been imortalized by a fellow living legend. Live and let live, eh?
That said, i need that 3300 set, someone help a brotha out
