ten
My buddy Ibrahim asked me about one of my tees the other day, so here's a clearer pic:
Something for the 10th anniversary of Jun Takahashi's Undercover circa 2000. Its fantastic as an undershirt (under:cover, get it?), long before BaseControl. I'm pretty partial to nondescript tees these days. Coupled with my healthy obsession with vintage tees, it might be my view that you should be comfortable with what your like and wear them, not be loud and show others that you too have the dough to own that next hot tee. Its a thin line between being affected by hype and what hype wants to follow.
and we have a winner....
this is like, gonna be on my wishlist for the next 3 years (until the next console comes along)

hello
its been a while, just thought i'd check in once in a while...
bape sounds tee + lEvis 1937
You know x'mas is coming when you get mail offers on "best deals", "spectacular extravaganza" blah blah; the streets in town are lined with red and green; lamp posts start to play "seasonal" muzak - its funny coz we only get 2 seasons here: Humid & Wet and Humid & Dry, hence i do not understand the relevance of "winter wonderland"; stores everywhere start to churn out their winter catalog....I fear for my wallet.
I do have a couple of items on my "want" list though, feel free to hook me up. Trust me, you'll gain a good friend (plus, i won't bite):
W)taps gear: jacket, tees
"Teenage Lust" deck
Visvim FBT or Christo
Hmm, not that long of a list huh? Ah well, i can't think too much, i'm getting distracted now and then, which is just as well.
My buddy Tom says i'm nuts with the tees, yeah well...he's right.. haha. Finally get to strike one of my list of "Tees to get":
Supreme x Bathing Ape
I know i'm late on this, but i just saw the link in my bookmark
Yann Arthus Bertrand
If you happen to be along Scotts Road outside Borders, peep the exhibit for the beautiful prints. Speechless
180 Premium - 95ukp
Randy & Moss
Look for new issue of Untitled come Jan '06. bread and butter
Lil Pink Devil
New Starck for Richard Mille

shit is bananas
Been a crazy week...though not in the "happenin" and "rockin rollin" kinda way i wish for. I feel like a rant coming...but even i can't muster the energy for it (that's rare lol). And i can't even blame it on something else. Shite, and i thought i had quarter-life crisis all sorted out.
Work's been a mess, and i expect a snowball of calamitous proportions to form: should i run from it, or be crushed and hope to live? Gosh, i love how perspectives shape people's thoughts: i ain't as unpressured and cool about the mountain of workload as i seem man. The fact that i managed it doesn't mean my workload should encompass "mountain-loads" everytime!
Urh, whatevs
Had a little downtime, and went to the tight Kostas setup at Surrender. I like the looks of "interceptor" prints...too bad not all(90%) of the peeps in there were for them i suppose. But it was nice to finally put a physical face and see the Man who makes the stuff which i really dig. Heading to these places somehow makes me feel alienated from the whole trend/hype/style/thingmajig that is "street" these days. Can't seem to find someone else i can touch base on. I must be getting old. :P
Brought along a copy of Superhero & Six, and a CompleteFinesse tee...was thinking of letting the man sign. But seeing how he's being badgered by the hounds, i just leave it in my pack, i'd think he's had enough. Maybe some other time we'll meet
Mr Kim prob sums it best in this neat article in Code...read it at EM press
I'm plastered, have fun with the pix and linx:
Terriyaki Boyz ala Bape makeover
Dropped
If you don't know Muji, then its high time you do
read the Observer article for info fodder, before heading to Muji JP and Muji English
Ladies
LILL custom handbags should bring cheers to the ladies
Toyota Aygo
U know they have something special when the site for the new car looks this yummy
Shape of things to come: Cube
From the epitome of cool...the Big Apple will get a glass Apple (sorry for the bad pun)
Blue Balls
Nope, not what you think...but this has got to be the in the top 5 amazing sites, for now at least
blue balls - the fun starts when u really focus on just 1 of the tiny buggers.
peace

Cloning
Went for a "vintage" look while rolling in town today. Its a public holiday, throngs of people are to be expected. Lots of teens in town as well. Thankfully they included sweet young things dressed appropraitely for the weather. In fact they dress similar to the weather: HOT. Skirts so short they should be belts instead (hey, i'm not complaining), i mean, its entirely understandable for low-cleavage tops as well, how else to wipe off your (yummy) sweat?
Alrite alrite, i'll stop before the perv police steps in...
Certain conversations with my pals have also come to a conclusion, those hype-kids are really poor things. Slaving their wallets in order to dress head to toe to look "original"...its just sad (and embarrassing no doubt) when they find out just about every other hype kid is looking the same. Like my pal Tom says "it ain't about what you wear, its how you wear it". I'm not for boycotting all those branded stuff, but its the mentality, thought and attitude that goes behind wearing "street". Its not about one-upping the next guy by dissecting his apparel by cost/rarity: "hmm, theres no ape-head sleeve tag on that ape tee, bet its fake"; "levis? ain't got nothing on my NBHD Savages"; "never seen that Casio before, interesting..."; "is that Converse? dude, peep my bapes"
No one wants to be a clone, so quit being one.
Whatevs, rant over.
If theres need be, the above combo: Very Ape tee / CasioxHaze G-shock / NBHD wristband / 1955 lEvis single-stitch selvedge / ConversexNexus7 Chuck Taylors

Riddle me this*Riddle me that
What's the relation between a well-made shoe and a 80's band?
Answer: The FBT shoe by Visvim was named after the 3-man band The Fun Boy Three, who were pretty popular during the early 80's, even featuring Bananrama on some of their releases. But what's more, the band's musical roots were based on the 2-Tone era. Now that's the real meaning behind the name of the latest Visvim release, not only because there's really 2 color-tones on the shoe.
Now, don't you feel smarter already?
Don't just believe me, read about it
much thanks to buddy naive for the tip-off
Collector 0709 lives the stuff of dreams fanboys like us will gladly suffer for. Either that, or we wish our family business was printing money or something related. A mint condition 12" Gardener Tattoo hand-made-painted by master craftsman Michael Lau. I don't think there's many parallel in other planes of collecting hobbydom (damn, i made lots of new words today). Even if you had the cash to splurge, its so limited in production that you still wouldn't be able to find a seller. And even if you do track down the elusive collector, chances are, he too will be glad to die and be buried with his Gardenergala momento. I'd say its like searching for a deadstock OG AJ1 in your size, or the '84 AJ1 in metallic green/blue/red...knowing that ace collector Hiro has all those and NOT you. Its that tough, kids.
Anywho, peep the Gardener thread at the haven for all toy-freaksningyoushi

one for the memories - 1 will flow to my buddy, season's greetings eh?
