real clothing

Let It Ride bowling shirt
A DS pickup from sometime back. Let It Ride (now Unrivaled) signature quirky design of a bowling shirt with jersey knits at the sides. Great for the warm weather here

Bathing Ape scout shirt
Classic re-release (love the "fellowship" tag, don't you?) of the Ape General scout shirt. Dope patches! Forget the silly chatter over Nigo's selloff of the brand he built, classic is classic, i;ll keep chasing the vintage and the looks that made me crazy for the brand years back.

sweet meats

‎...the welcome of Spring
a hundred men awaits
the lure of sweet meats...

Every lunar new year, together with hordes of other folks, i make the pilgrimage to the festive mecca that is Chinatown for my fix of Lim Chee Guan's famous barbequed meats, or Bak Kwa. Years of military training, fanboy sneaker-queueing, rabid persistence, and (some say) pure stupidity insanity is rewarded with a bounty of sweet meats for gifting my family and loved ones. Just glad i have my (mental) buddies for company. One can't explain it, but we just do it..haha :)

unboxing II

Vintage hunting in no matter what form, be it furniture, antiques or watches etc, always tells a story. I have a tiny assortment of vinyl toys that i unabashedly call a collection, grouped together more by self-appraised "coolness" rather than general consensus nor market-price evaluation. I have the 2-piece James-Nigo Mowax boxset, and when i managed to snag the standalone Nigo figure, there is just a nagging "need" to cop the James figurine to "complete". I have such "completist" mentality (or mental sickness, however you view it)
Never did i think i'd come across this version, the so-called "stealth" or blacked-out version, with customized paint splatter by Stash. Given the recent sell-off of Bape, the antagonistic James, a reticent Futura, and even wierder direction of Stash (with the fugly Sebago shoe), this figure is a reminder of just what kind of "cool guys" those 4 culture giants were...

Eons back, i managed to get a steal of a deal for the Hulk vinyl figure customized by Kostas Seremetis, for Phase0.2. It sat pretty in my handmade display case and just about out-smashed other vinyl figurines for coolness stakes. Well, up until a couple weeks ago at least...thats when i spotted this gem of an autographed piece. Had to have it...duh?!

Noticed that it was also un-numbered, unlike the regular version of the 500-piece run, so i guess Phase0.2 should have reserved several pieces outside of production to be inked by Kostas. And my #85? hand-carried over to happy new owner, my buddy S78 haha

chicken soup (for the soul)

Roaming around Geylang for some pre-Chinese New Year stocking up of goodies, stopped by Ser Seng Herbs Restaurant for herbal black and white chicken soup.
Though more famous for turtle soup, figured i didn't need that much "goodness" in me :)

wish i could visit the installation in real life...

short stop

i usually choose a window seat on my flights, and pray for good weather for cloud shots. Just that much closer as compared to viewing from the ground...
Jakarta's pretty warm this time of year, more so than SIN i feel. Did the blazer so i could easily remove and be comfy in tees.
NBHD blazer|visvim T|NDG denim|nike SFB

when travelling, i try to pack light with lots of white tees that are great for layering, or simply paired with denim. CW from left: visvim oltolina|hanes for supreme|visvim print
for footwear, since i had to be out and about, the SFB is great for protection and lightweight enough to forget you're even wearing a boot. i usually bring along a soft trainer for hitting the hotel gym/pool or nearby haunts. the nike sock racer is excellent for poolside or beach visits.

"i wanna be a millionaire..": Bruno Mars
the Indo currency exchange makes me an easy millionaire :)
and always try the local fare that is nasi padang, a great spread of dishes to eat to your heart's content.

traffic's tiresome and getting worse, but the people and food of Jakarta are always worth the return trip

shopping is such dogma

waiting for the missus outside the fitting room
hideout x neighborhood
visvim fluxus D1
undercover x vans

surprisingly light traffic on the roads to town, but malls were packed...no change from the year end throngs...
its the final fling for the "post-x'mas" sales, only for the "lunar new year" sales to begin in 2 days time.
(yet more evidence that time flies)

i,m always caught in 2 or 3 minds whenever i shop in the conventional bricks/mortar environment. probably in the online world, i'm given less choices (more so in the auction-world of course) and i'm forced to make a quick decision to buy (or risk losing it cheaply to the other camper sitting at the other end of the world); compared to thinking that i'll spot something better in the next rack or shop or mall.

friends will know me as an auction-fiend, but i really ought to stop and save up the dough, more important buys await in the near future...

...i'm back...

its been a long hiatus, i myself can't believe twenty-10 flew by so quickly.
i know its a week into the second decade of the millennium, but all the same, i'd like to wish y'all an awesome year ahead. trust me, it'll go by just as quickly, so put all sad/bad/mean thoughts/vibes aside...
like Mark-gor would say, here's to a better tomorrow...

...checklist...

Things always seem clearer on hind-sight, and looking back at the past month, it sure seems like i've caught up on quite a couple stuff i've been wanting to do. Could it be that i'm actually fufilling my resolutions? wowee...lol

Took a trip, on the wet side...
Couple of folks decided to charter a small yacht to relax as a reward from work. Its been a while since i last took to the sea, sure miss the salty spray

S2C Shizuoka tee, CDG x FP, Visvim eiger's
Nothing i like more than some quiet solitude followed by some excellent traditional chinese lunch

visited the Museum...
and the Egyptian mummy exhibit, learned the value of having a well-informed guide.

visvim talbot shirt|fluxus04|adidas x porter nizza
...and such a joy to enjoy the weekend afternoon with the gf

had a BBQ...in the rain

electric cottage|lvc|nike free woven
This was me buying the groceries before (changing and) heading to the beach for a barbie to celebrate a mate's birthday. And if you thought a bbq in the rain is a rarity here in the sunny island, its happened to me twice before already...haha

S2C x Kostas|visvim eiger's|NB x Hanon
all in, a pretty fruitful month i must say! :)

MAILDROPZ

Supreme motion-logo tee | Jil Sander tie
Its such a must-get when Supreme released the retro "motion-logo" print. I still have the old namecard that had the OG print, which kick-started my interest for the brand. Also copped a Jil skinny tie to complete a formal look work-wise.

Bapesta pro-wrestling Zepp tour tee
Loved the iconic red camo (and since i couldn't afford anything red camo just 2 years ago), couldn't pass up a steal (as always for me)

Visvim Skagway Sami
Somewhat similar in colorway to the adidas x porter nizza high in my earlier post, but trust me, this pair is different past the colorway. Full pony-hair upper and tongue, that extends beyond to the toe-cap, this pair is one exquisite add to the visvim vault. I've gotten advice on the irrepressible tongue that seems to have a life of its own, and how the upper will get worn out, but i'll take a risk on all that!

Converse x Dr Romanelli
Not sure why, but feeling hi-cuts lately. Been eyeing this pair for sometime, really drawn in by the "eye-popping" graphics and interesting upper details of bandages all-over by the good "doctor". The inner lining canvas features graphics images of the anatomy, as well as on the see-thru outsole. Gonna be a hoot rocking this in the hot summer's day, heh heh

always been a big fan of Hardy Blechman's Maharishi label and DPM innovations. and being the completist, i managed to piece together a couple more from the maharishi x michael lau collaborative exhibition

Maharishi x Michael Lau 103 GardenerGala
Possibly the first poster i'll ever put up on the wall of my future home is Michael Lau's GardenerGala. This one is exclusive to the Maharishi London exhibition with the addition of the Blechman figure to make up 103 figures

Maharishi x Michael Lau "103" No War tee
And of course i have to cop the accompanying event tee. Not only to complete the exhibit range, but also Michael's anti-Iraq war that includes a collab tee print he did for Levi's (yeah, geeky i know)

brings to mind Eddie Vedder's (yet another of my heroes) heartfelt rendition of "No More"

oh, and last bit of bonus Maharishi memorabilia to hold on to...

Maharishi x Medicom Fabrick
just coz it would be cute to have this cute bugger sit in the corner of the room...and since i already have the bedroom slippers from the range (oops..hahaha)
