6453 + 7674
Nike x Sophnet Air Oasis Mid
Collaboration model created for the opening of Soph Kanazawa store in Jan '07
Premium leather all round, with suede on the toebox and heel cup
insole: the only branding to reveal the collaborative effort
what does it mean: 6453 and 7674 types out as "Nike" and "Soph" on an alphnumeric keypad. it is always hirofumi's style to play on the digital pun
Nice detail on the outsole, the triangle air pocket: its transparent when you remove the insole! Cool as it seems, going with my experience of Nike Air pockets, it'll deteriorate so quickly it ain't even funny. Ah, the perils of a sneaker fanatic
peace
the circle is complete
I'd been tracking this print design for some time. Its usually ridiculously priced in the original DS form: shrink-wrapped in the shape of the Mowax space gun. Well, it happened that the seller had another piece that was opened but unworn in his collection (yes, there are other nuts like me around in the universe) that he was willing to let go. Why the hunt for this print?...hmm, cos it goes well with the vinyl toy? :D
Yes, obviously it goes a while back, printed on Oneita power tee, to remind us the time when the triumvirate of Futura, James and Nigo ruled all hype-dom.
the space gun detail is all thats left of the original packaging. notice the tee print is "James vs Nigo" while the toy box is "Nigo vs James"?
front view: pointy-men and "MW" Mowax insignias on the sleeves
back view: Futura signs off his graphic contribution
detail: good ol' days of Futuraoptics
cheers

private property
got wood
My mates know i have a crazed addiction to all things (mostly vinyl) Michael Lau. If i could, my new home will probably have a wall dedicated to his stuff in my collection, not withstanding what the missus might say though.. lol
Managed to cop this skate deck from MLau's recent 10th anniversary exhibition in HKG
Seeing as how impossible it'd be to own even 1 of his original 12-inch vinyl figures, this is just about as cool as it gets
comes with a printed paperbag for the deck. Of course, as at any exhibition, not forgetting the obligatory signed mini-deck (with its own deck bag no less!) by Mr Lau himself
table top
one can never have enough white shirts, its all in the details
clean crisp white dress shirt from Resonate, Coolmax panel on the bottom side to ventilate in tropical/summer weather, mother-of-pearl buttons (no pic),
table-top tab from Hiroshi's curated collection at DoverStreetMarket, and reflective logo on the back...just so you know HF's got your back

real clothing
Let It Ride bowling shirt
A DS pickup from sometime back. Let It Ride (now Unrivaled) signature quirky design of a bowling shirt with jersey knits at the sides. Great for the warm weather here
Bathing Ape scout shirt
Classic re-release (love the "fellowship" tag, don't you?) of the Ape General scout shirt. Dope patches! Forget the silly chatter over Nigo's selloff of the brand he built, classic is classic, i;ll keep chasing the vintage and the looks that made me crazy for the brand years back.

sweet meats
...the welcome of Spring
a hundred men awaits
the lure of sweet meats...
Every lunar new year, together with hordes of other folks, i make the pilgrimage to the festive mecca that is Chinatown for my fix of Lim Chee Guan's famous barbequed meats, or Bak Kwa. Years of military training, fanboy sneaker-queueing, rabid persistence, and (some say) pure
dressing lightly: Fenom | Visvim EigerSanction | Nike Undercover MatchClassic
not seen: Supreme cordura backpack with Acronym J17 for wet weather program (thankfully not deployed)
unboxing II
Vintage hunting in no matter what form, be it furniture, antiques or watches etc, always tells a story. I have a tiny assortment of vinyl toys that i unabashedly call a collection, grouped together more by self-appraised "coolness" rather than general consensus nor market-price evaluation. I have the 2-piece James-Nigo Mowax boxset, and when i managed to snag the standalone Nigo figure, there is just a nagging "need" to cop the James figurine to "complete". I have such "completist" mentality (or mental sickness, however you view it)
Never did i think i'd come across this version, the so-called "stealth" or blacked-out version, with customized paint splatter by Stash. Given the recent sell-off of Bape, the antagonistic James, a reticent Futura, and even wierder direction of Stash (with the fugly Sebago shoe), this figure is a reminder of just what kind of "cool guys" those 4 culture giants were...

Eons back, i managed to get a steal of a deal for the Hulk vinyl figure customized by Kostas Seremetis, for Phase0.2. It sat pretty in my handmade display case and just about out-smashed other vinyl figurines for coolness stakes. Well, up until a couple weeks ago at least...thats when i spotted this gem of an autographed piece. Had to have it...duh?!
Noticed that it was also un-numbered, unlike the regular version of the 500-piece run, so i guess Phase0.2 should have reserved several pieces outside of production to be inked by Kostas. And my #85? hand-carried over to happy new owner, my buddy S78 haha
